I think that the author used a dog maybe because the author wanted to use an animal that is cute and well liked by many people so that we can show our sympathy to the dog. A dog is also an animal that is loyal to their owners and when we see a dog being tortured or is in pain after all that the dog had done for its owner, we would feel very sad for the dog, as if the owner's did not appreciate the dog's kindness to them. By showing the motionless dog lying on the ground with bloodstains on the floor, we will feel sad and pity for the dog, and so that we would not torture any animals. I think the strong message behind this picture is 'Not torture any animals', EVEN if they made mistakes. We should give them a chance.
