auspicious- favoured by fortune
Eg: To the Tan family, June was an auspicious month.

*legislature- a debiberative body of persons
Eg: The legislature will arrive soon.

sluggishly- lacking in energy
Eg: He sluggishly walked towards the fridge to get a midnight snack.

*impulse- sudden, involuntary inclination promting to action
Eg: Jacob punched Micheal in the mouth from an angry impulse.

loot- [a slang word] money
Eg: I wonder how I'm going to spend all my loot now that I have won the lottery.

tyranny- harshness
Eg: The teacher displayed unfairness and tyranny in the class, leaving the students angry.

cot- A narrow bed, especially one made of canvas on a collapsible frame.
He placed the baby in the cot and proceeded to the kitchen to make dinner.

parched- to be made dry
Eg: The peice of land was completely parched.

gingerly- with great care/caution
Eg: Marco gingerly placed the fragile vase on the table.

patchworked- to be made out of peices of cloth
Eg: There was a box of patchworked bits in his room.

*scuppernongs- a wine made from muscadine grape
Eg: The bottle of scuppernongs spilled all over Ms. Haford's brand new white carpet.

Eg: George and Freddy were all slicked up.

*hitched- fastened
Eg: They were hitched on before the roller-coaster ride.

*bowleg- outward curving of the legs causing a seperation of the knees when the ankles are close or in

Eg: He got offended by my contradicting of him.

*throbbed- vibrated
Eg: The cello throbbed.

wedged- to fix tightly
Eg: He wedged himself through the narrow opening in the gate

*nauseated- to feel extremely disgusted
Eg: I felt nauseated.

triumphantly- sucessfully
Eg: He triumphantly completed the project.

phenomena- prodigy
Eg: Her son was a phenomena.

melancholy- a gloomy state of mind/depression
Eg: He was in melancholy upon hearing that his uncle died in a car accident.

poised- self-assured
Eg: He poised himself that he would be safe
