Hi everyone, here are the vocabulary words for the second chapter of To Kill A Mocking Bird.

*condescended- to deign to do something
Eg: He condescended to take me to the park.

transaction- a process of doing something
Eg: He was in a transaction of bringing goods over.

hauled- To transport
Eg: She hauled the car towards the side of the road.

auburn- a reddish -brown or golden-brown colour
Eg: Upon seeing his daughter's new auburn hair, his face turned crimson red.

apprehensively- with fear and uneasiness
Eg: He walked around the dark halls apprehensively as he looked for his lost book.

peculiarities-characteristics
Eg: She had many peculiarities that made her popular in school.

*indigenous- to have something existing in you since birth(eg: a talent)
Eg: I was indigenous to music.

*immune- protected from a disease
Eg: He is immune from fever.

hymn- a song of praise or joy
Eg: They all gathered to sing a hymn.

wallowing- to be plentifully supplied
Eg: He was wallowing in money.

*illicitly- not legally authorized
Eg: This vehicle was illicitly driven into the area.

compelled- to have an irrisistable influence
Eg: Jacob compelled Jason to steal the money.

*impressionistic- with impressions
Eg: His performance was impressionistic.

scrawling- writing hastily
Eg: Upon suddenly remembering his homework, John started scrawling out his essay.

metallic- consisting of metal
Eg: His metallic robot caught everyone's attention.

drawled- to speak with lengthened vowels
Eg: "No way", drawled Jason upon hearing the shocking news.

mended- to have fixed/been fixed
Eg: The repair man mended the car within an hour.

conferred- to compare opinions
Eg: They conferred and decided to go to Sentosa instead.

*entailment-the rule of descent settled for an estate.

Eg: The case was mortgaged.

hilt-the handle of a sword/dagger/weapon
Eg: He held the hilt of the sword tight, ready for battle.

subsequent-occuring later
Eg: The event that was subsequent to the dinner was a performance.

mortification-a feeling of shame
Eg: His mortification was making him feel miserable.

uninitiated- inexperienced
Eg: He was uninitiated when it came to rugby.

sojourn- a temporary stay
Eg: His sojourn stay in his friends house was not going well.
