Chapter 7
Scout enters second grade.

When Scout and Jem were on their way home, Jem finally told Scout what happened the night he went back to look for his pants.
On the walk home they found a ball of twine in the tree on the Radley's area. Later, they found two carved soap figures. Another time, they found gum and a pocket watch. Then, Scout and Jem decide to leave a thank you note in the tree. The next day when they came to the tree , the hole was filled with cement.

Chapter 8
When winter came, Scout and Jem decide to take the opportunity to enjoy the snow, they played alot with the snow. That evening, a fire broke out in Maudie's house and the town came to help move out their furniture and personal belongings. Jem and Scout then watch in fear. They did not realize that someone has put a blanket around Scout. Atticus said that it was Boo Radley who did that.
Now, the Maudie's sees the fire incident as a chance to start over and move on.
