chapter 1: In a town called Maycomb,Alabama , there was this 6 year old girl who was called Scout. She had a brother,Jem, who was nearly thirteen.During that year's summer, Jem broke his elbow.Scout begins to tell how and why Jem broke his arm.She provides a brief introduction to the town of Maycomb, Alabama and the peoples living in the town,including her widowed father,Atticus Finch, and Calpurnia,a cook.The story starts when Scout and Jem met Dill,a little boy who spents his summer with his aunt,Miss Rachel Haverford.It was all fine until then, when Dill started suggesting making Boo Radley to get out of his house.Boo Radley was often blamed for unexplained bad things that happened in town all times.When he was young, he caught up with the wrong gang and got into trouble one night.His father brought him home and promised that Boo would cause no more trouble.Since then he remained shut in the house.Dill dared Jem to run inside Radley's fence and touch the house.Jem accepts.
Chapter 2:Dill went back to mississippi for the school year while Scout turns her attention to starting first grade.Miss Caroline was Scout's teacher.During lunch time ,Miss Caroline found out that Walter did not bring anything for lunch.She offered some money asking him to go downtown to eat.Walter did not accept as they won't take any help from anyone because they can't afford to pay it back.Scout tries to explain it on walter's behalf.Miss Caroline was displeased with Scout and punished him .Scout ended up getting a hit by the ruler on the palm and stands on a corner.
