SCENE 2:
Singapore was a peaceful town. People of many races came here for many purposes. It was as though nothing could possibly go wrong, until it did.
In 1942 to 1945, the Japanese forces have occupied Singapore. It was a moment where everyone lived in fear, terrified of what could possibly happen next. It was a “dark” moment for Singapore, and many lives were lost.
SCENE 3/4:
Many Singaporeans were brutally killed during this time. Thousands of innocent lives were lost. Japanese soilders would kill people in many gruesome ways. Amongst the methods of killing were these 2. One, Japanese soilders killed each other using “guns with a knife” at the end. Another infamous method was to have many people stand near a wall and be shot to their deaths.
Scene 5:
Among the many people who suffered hardship and cruelty was a man known as Lim Bo Seng. Born in 1990, Lim Bo Seng came to Singapore to study in Raffles Institution. He was one of the many people who experienced pain and peril. However, unlike many other people who did nothing, he decided to help put an end to all this. He joined Force 136, and they had a mission. They wanted to set up an espionage network to gather military intelligence about the Japanese. However, it took only a few traitors to bring everything crashing into the ground. Lim Bo Seng and Force 136 went plunging downhill. Soon, the Japanese wanted and hoped that Lim Bo Seng would work for them as thus started treating him nicely. However, Lim Bo Seng wanted to escape at any cost, but to no avail.
On March 26 1944, the Japanese captured a man named Tan Chong Tee and upon hearing this, Lim Bo Seng wanted to escape badly. However, it was a big and fatal mistake. He was caught and interrogated, but even still Lim Bo Seng was unwilling to reveal any information. He was then brutally killed due to this. His sacrifice was a great one and would always be remembered. Also, it is important that we practice Total Defence so that we know what to do if any crisis was to come upon us again.
Interview
Q: Do you think Lim Bo Seng is a hero? Why or why not?
A: Yes,because he is willing to sacrifice his own life for the safety of others. I think that that is very heroic and brave of him.
Q: What do you think Total Defence is for?
A: It is to remind us to be vigilant and alert when there is any crisis.
Q: So do you think it is helpful? Why or why not?
A: It is definitely helpful. Total Defence reminds us about the hardship people faced in the past and how we should react if such situations were to come upon us again.
I will try to post more stuff if needed.
