In this picture,we can see a dog lying there motionless. The dog was dead.If you see the picure clearly, there were some white words like"stupid","Shut up","dumb dog".I think the person who wrote it is the owner of the dog.Perhaps the dog did something and made the owner angry,so he just kill the dog when he angry with it.

The image shows an animal lying motionless on its side. If you look close enough, you can see in white, the words "shut up", "dumb dog" as well as "stupid". With that being said, the animal is most likely a dog. Also, seeing that it is motionless, the dog is probably dead. The words "stupid" and "dumb" might be used when an individual is angry at someone. When anger escalates, it can lead to murder. Maybe that is what is being illustrated, a scene of murder. The dog is most likely the victim, and the 'killer' may well be the dog's owner. The owner might have been angry with the dog, thus the words "shut up", "dumb dog" and "stupid". Perhaps the dog did something in the past, therefore angering the owner which eventually led to murder of the dog by the owner.

In this picture, we can see that the dog is lying on the mat as though it is hurt or dead. Its just lying there motionless. If you examine the picture carefully, you can see small words like ' shut up' and 'stupid'. This may refer to the dog itself. There's also other words like " dumb dog ". The owner might had written that. This can show us that the owner does not like the dog. The abused is taken in that house itself as there's still bloods around the dog. The dog may be murdered by its owner, for some reasons. Such as making him/her angry. Or owner may find the dog not as cute as before. To confirm my guess, there is a sentence that says, 'dumb dog'. This proves the anger that the owner faced. Anger may be the best conclusion
till more information is given out...

I think that the author used a dog maybe because the author wanted to use an animal that is cute and well liked by many people so that we can show our sympathy to the dog. A dog is also an animal that is loyal to their owners and when we see a dog being tortured or is in pain after all that the dog had done for its owner, we would feel very sad for the dog, as if the owner's did not appreciate the dog's kindness to them. By showing the motionless dog lying on the ground with bloodstains on the floor, we will feel sad and pity for the dog, and so that we would not torture any animals. I think the strong message behind this picture is 'Not torture any animals', EVEN if they made mistakes. We should give them a chance.

A picture paints a thousand words. But what the picture paints is another question...

I refer to the picture about the monkeys and the man at the following website:
http://english2b.edublogs.org/. You may also want to look at the post done by (Manke, Angeline, Liyana and Jia Jia) I refer to that same picture.

First of all, the picture shows two monkeys eating the brains out of a man, who seems helpless. The top of the man's head has been exposed and his brains are showing. His face is stuck in a hole in the table, while the rest of his body kneels down under the table. By looking at the man, you sort of feel pitiful for him. You would imagine the pain he must have felt. Still, the message is simple. Don't we do that to the monkeys? Well, some of us do and sometimes we do not feel any emotions. When it comes to the humans eating the brains out of the monkeys, some people don't react at all and they find it a delicacy. However, once the tables have been turns, the reactions we get are different. Thus, this picture brings out a simple message. Do not do something to someone when you do not want the same thing to return to you. When you look at the picture, your emotions get triggered. Also, if you have noticed, the man is looking directly at you. His eyes and your eyes soemwhat meet. There is a reason why the he looks at you like that. Firstly, if he did not look at you, the impact of the picture might not have been strong enough. But now that he is looking at you, you start to feel yourself in his shoes, in his situation, and when that happens, many of your emotions get 'activated' because you would know how it is like to be in such a situation. Once you have pictured yourself in his shoes, in his position, you would then begin to feel. The first few things that may come into your mind when you think about your brain being eaten, is pain and suffering. But do you think about the guilt? For those of you who eat monkey brains, do you feel the remorse? When you eat monkey brains and find it a delightful sensation, do you think about the same situation being reversed. The man is stuck, unable to fight to survive. Instead he is trapped there and left to die in a slow and painful manner. When the human has his brain eaten out, you feel sad. The picture 'hits' you and makes you feel for the man. So, since you feel pitiful for the man, why don't you feel pitiful for the monkeys? Both are in the same fate anyways. Also, there is a sense of sadness. Notice, in the picture, that the man in stuck in the table. So instead of dying in a heroic battle (for example) or in a war, he is helpless while his brain is slowly being eaten. Therefore, I conclude that the picture does indeed bring out one important message. Don't do something if you don't want it done to you.

Joey_26_Quote (Courage Vs Curiosity)
Courage and curiosity. They have similarities and differences. We need to be able to compare those words in order to understand them better.

-Courage
When the word courage is mentioned, one would think of words such as "bravery" and "fearless". In my opinion, courage means to disregard all your fears and worries and to step up and take on a challenge. One uses courage to overcome certain difficulties.

-Curiosity
Curiosity derives from the word curious. To be curious is to have the want to know or gain something. Curiosity comes when you are interested in something and want to find out more. You seek something, maybe the truth for example. There is also a phrase known as "curiosity killed the cat". What it means is that sometimes if you are too curious, you could potentially end up harming yourself or leaving yourself in a bad spot.

*Curiosity VS Courage*
There is a point I want to bring up. Sometimes it is natural for us to be curious. However, what if the situation gets too dangerous or tough, we sometimes need to have courage help us out. We need the courage to stand up and to face our challenges. Still, as mentioned earlier, being to curious and having to much courage may be a bad thing. How is that so? It is due to something known as recklessness.

-Reckless
To be reckless is to do something with over confidence and to be "clumsy", but sometimes it can get violence. It revolves around not having caution. With that being said, there is sort of a link between courage, curiosity and recklessness. Sometimes we can get curious, but the situation can be dangerous. Then, we would buck up our courage and try to overcome the fears so as to satisfy our courage. However, if we lack caution, it could all lead to recklessness.

There has been a mistake in one or two of the posts. Scout is actually a girl, but behaves like a boy. The conclusion is that she is a tom-boy.

They have been a few posts where I talked about gender conflict. Scout is a girl but there are some ways in which she behaves that makes her seem like a boy. One example is when she beat up Dill twice (chapter 5) and said it was a pain to be called a girl. Also, therea re cases where Jem tells Scout that she is becoming more and more like a girl each day, but isn't she already one? There has been a little confusion, but one thing clear is that there is racism and also gender conflict in the story.

Chapter 5

1) If Scout felt left out of the friendship of Jem and Dill, then how come she didn’t go to her friends her age, and not her uncle’s friend, Miss Maudie?

I think that Scout likes hanging out with someone older than her because maybe she doesn’t feel comfortable with her age group. Nearly the same age , they grew up together at Finch Landings . That since she’s so smart they’ll say o she’s to smart we don’t want to hang with her. Or maybe because she’s used to hanging out with her older brother, she’s used to hanging out with older people. That's why she stayed with Miss Maudie.

2) If you knew the truth about someone, but you still heard all the rumors about him, would you tell your friend the truth, or not tell them at all and make them think what they hear?

Miss Maudie grew up with Boo Radley. In fact he was a very nice boy. And he is still alive. If it was me I would most definitely tell my friend because you wouldn’t want bad things said about you even though your friend thought he was dead. I would say something to my friend, and I would want a friend to say something to me so I wouldn’t spread rumors.

3) Do you think it was nice that Jem and Dill put a note through the window asking Boo Radley if he wanted to get ice cream?

If you look it in a way, you’d think it’s so nice that they’re asking Boo Radley to come with them to get ice cream. But if you read on, you will see that they were actually teasing him and tormenting him. Jem held out a filthy piece of paper to let Atticus to read it. Atticus orders them to stop tormenting that man with either notes or the “Boo Radley” game. If Mr Radley wanted to stay inside in house , he had the right to stay inside from those children.

Chapter 7:

1. Why do you think Nathan Radley put cement in the oak tree hole?

In the book, its says that the tree was sick so he insert some cement in the tree hole. In my opinion, Nathan was suspecting something that was not true. He was giving reasons to cover up on what he had done.

Why did Nathan say that the tree was dying?

This made me wonder why did Nathan say it was dying when the tree was as healthy as ever. It had green leaves and full, there was no brown patches. Does the cement has anything to do with the health of the tree.

cake is a quintessential Southern dessert. This cake has been around at least since the late 1800s, when Emma Rylander Lane, of Clayton, Alabama, won first prize with it at the Alabama State Fair. The Lane cake appeared in her cookbook in 1898, when it was called “Prize Cake.” However, the origins of the Lane cake are probably older than Mrs. Lane’s recipe.

Rosetta stone

The Rosetta stone is dated to March 196 BC, in the 9th year of Ptolemy V. The background to the setting up of the stela was the confirmation of the control of the Ptolemaic kings over Egypt. The Ptolemies were Greeks who had been ruling Egypt since the fragmentation of the Empire of Alexander the Great, and while they built temples in the Egyptian style, their lifestyle and language remained exclusively Greek. Egypt had by now become a multi-cultural society, a mixture of Greek and Egyptian, although in many parts of the country the two rarely met.

Chapter 4

1) If the curriculum is going to slow for somebody, and they’re doing well, but you see he or she is not paying attention, would you move him or her up or keep him or her at the same level?

Imagine you know everything already but your teacher doesn’t want to take the chance and move you up. Would you want to move up? Something like this happened to me before. My teacher moved me up and she did the right thing so I could challenge myself and see if I could do it. Not Miss Caroline. Even though she knew that Scout was more advanced, and she knew that it would be boring for her, she still didn’t want to move her up. If I was Scout, I would go to Miss Caroline and say “move me up so I can see for myself that I can do it.”

2) Why do you think Jem and Scout made such a big deal about seeing chewed gum and Indian coins in a knot whole?

I think they made a big deal because they knew the stories of what happened about that house that who might live in it. Scout was trying to make Jem believe that he had found therem and found it at the tree, and found it himself pointing at another piece of tin-foil. And lastly they knew the scary ancient legends about it.

3) How did Harper Lee make the game that Jem, Scout and Dill were playing, Boo Radley seem scary?

The way that Harper Lee made the game “Boo Radley” scary was by putting in the fact that Atticus came outside to where the kids were playing and asked what they were doing and if it had something to do with Boo Radley. Jem at first know what they were going to play , he said " something new , something different. He had thought that up to make him understand he wasn't afraid of Radley's in any shape to contrast his own fearless heorism with his cowardice. Jem lied to him and then Atticus went back in the house. The kids wondered if it’s safe to play their game anymore.

Joey_26_Quotes(3)
Here are the quotes for chapters 7 and 8 for To Kill A Mocking Bird.
[Chapter 7]
pg 65
-Can't anybody tell what I'm gonna do lest they know me, can they, Scout?

The above post was said by Jem to Scout. In a previous post, I talked about a certain quote mentioned by Atticus. In the quote, Atticus says that there is a skill one must learn in order to get better acquainted with a lot more people, and that skill is to be able to feel for the person and to live inside his skin. That same principle sort of applys here. When Jem says "lest they know me", it also means " lest they can crawl into my skin and walk in my shoes". Isn't it sort of true? if Scout or any other person is able to crawl inside Jem's skin, they would have known how he felt, wouldn't they? The concept can also apply in the main part of the story, Atticus' defense for the black man. People think Atticus is defending a n***er. However, they will not really know what is going on unless they can fully understand him and "climb into his skin'.

[Chapter 8]
pg 73
- Jem, I ain't never heard of a n***er snowman

The above was said by Scout to Jem. The sentence is actually sort of true. A n***er snowman? Is there such a thing? Most likely not. Supposedly since snow is white in colour, a snowman would be a "white person". Maybe that is why Scout says there is no such thing as a n***er snowman. However, whether or not there is one, we can see that the point of racism has extended to a really high level, so high that even inanimate objects are involved in the racism. This quote brings out the fact that the racism is still on-going, and it could possibly escalate more.

Chapter 6...

What was your initial reaction in chapter six when Jem peeked into Boo Radley’s house and then heard a shotgun?

I was feeling anxious to know what will happen. A lot was going through my mind. For example, What will happen? who died? So i read on and knew what happened soon after.

Page 58, the story gets more exciting. The adventure was about to start. What was going through your mind?

In my opinion, I was nervous and i thought that Jem, Boo... was about to face something that is unpleasant. Will they get hurt? Will they be threatened? What will Happen?! But i know that the story cannot end that fast. There will be a twist somewhere in the story. I was sure of it!

Joey_26_Quotes(2---continued)
I apologize. In the previous post I did not post the quotes for Chapter 5 and 6, but anyway, here they are.
[Chapter 5]
pg 46
-He had asked me earlier in the summer to marry him......said I was the only girl he would ever love....I beat him up twice but it did no good, he only grew closer to Jem.

Here, Scout talks about how Dill asked him to marry him, and how Dill called him a girl. There have been many recent posts where I mention about gender conflicts, and here is another good example to show it. This time around the topic is strongly emphasized as Scout has not only been called a girl, but has been asked to be married to another guy! When someone asks you that question, of course you would react, that is, if you are a guy. The gender conflict here is almost gone, because instead of Dill insulting Scout with the word "girl", he actually uses the same word as a complement to Scout, saying that he is perfect of him. However, there is still a little conflict because Scout was angry and beat Dill up, twice. Also, because of Scout's actions, Dill is now moving closer to Jem. See how the "gender conflict" can change things even though it may seem like nothing?

pg 49
-Foot washers believe anything that's pleasure is a sin....Did you know some of 'em came out of the woods one Saturday and passed by this place and told me and my flowers were going to hell?

The above was said by Miss Maudie to Scout. I picked this quote out because I think that it has similarity to something. Remember that the people believed that Atticus was defending n***ers? Here, foot washers have their own belief, which is that anything that is pleasure is a sin. This goes to show that most people have their own beliefs, and whether or not it is true, it is hard to tell. So, there is a point where people believe Atticus defending n***ers, but whether or not that is true is another story. It may be inappropriate for people to use the word 'n***ers', but that is their own belief.

pg 51
- I found Jem and Dill in the backyard deep in conversation. When I joined them, as usual they said go away.

The above was said by Scout about how he was 'rejected' to join by Jem and Dill. This quote more or less shows how the "hatred" between Scout to Jem and Dill has grown. Earlier Dill asked Scout to marry him, which resulted Scout in beating him up, and in a previous post I mentioned about the "tyre incident", where Jem called Scout a girl and used that as a way to insult him. Also, in this quote, notice how the words "as usual" were used. This could probably mean the "hatred" could have lasted for awhile.

[Chapter 6]
pg 57
- Scout, I'm telling you for the last time, shut your trap or go home- I declare to the Lord you're gettin' more like a girl every day!

The above was said to Scout by Jem, who really pushed the envelope a little too far this time round. It is just another quote to help show the gender conflict that has been going on for quite a long time.

pg 60
- Says if anybody sees a white n***er around, the next sound he hears in the patch.....

The above was said by Miss Maudie. The quote itself is important, but I reduced it to the most important part in my opinion. A white n***er? Is there such a thing? Remember that a n***er is supposed to be a black person, so a white n***er would be a white black person. It is rather confusing, but I think it shows the racism point a little bit. When you use n***er on someone, not only are you referring to him as a black person, but it actually offends people. So maybe the term 'white n***er' could mean a general white person who look black. It could be used to insult a white person, but it is hard to tell. Still, it shows the point of racism.

Joey_26_Quotes(2)
Here are the quotes for chapters 5 and 6. However, before that, here is another quote that Mrs Quah suggested I write about, so here it is.

-If you just learn a single trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.

The above was said to Scout by Atticus. Firstly, there is something I want to explain. To climb into someone's skin is to pretend you are the person. In the above, Atticus tells Scout that there is a single trick to learn to get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. The 'trick' Atticus is referring to is the ability to feel for another person, not just yourself. The 'trick' is the ability to pretend to be that person, and to know how he feels. What Atticus is trying to imply here is to be able to care for another being and not just yourself. When you can do that, you will be able to get along with others better (just like Atticus said above) because when someone else knows you care for them, they will feel "comfortable" around you and they can trust you to get along with them.

Chapter 5 & 6

Scout - She was with Miss Maudie and asked her more about Radley. It was stated that Stephanie Crawford had seen Boo Radley looking into the window at her in the middle of night. In chapter 6,She was involved with Jem and Dill's plan, which is to edged down the sidewalk parallel to the side of the house while Jem try to give a note to Boo Radley.

Jem - He and Dill decides not to let Scout join them with their plans when they are at Miss Maudie's house.Next day, they finally let Scout into their plans , which was to give a note to Boo Radley.Jem was assigned to be the one sticking the note on the door, but last did not suceed as Atticus approached. After being reprimanded by Atticus,he still did not give up on checking up upon Boo Radley. He and Dill meet up late at night and went to Radley's house. He even went inside from the windows on the back of the house.

Dill - Dill was the one who watch by the front corner of the lot.He also take his mother's silver dinner-bell just to ring it if he saw anyone approaching them. When the bell rings, Jem and Scout will have to stop what they are doing. At last, he rang the bell when he saw Atticus.

Miss Maudie Atkinson - She is not married to one.It stated that she hated her house and always works in her garden in the gardener's clothing, but she will dress herself up after her five o'clock bath. She is also quite a good cook.In chapter 5,She told more things about Radley to Scout. Chapter 3:

Why did the author rub Walter Cunningham nose in the dirt?

In my opinion, Scout was bullying Walter Cunningham till Jem came by and stop him. At that time scout had some pleasure when rubbing Walter's nose in the dirt.

Why was Walter's Fist half-cocked?

In my understanding, Walter's fist half-cocked because he was angry. The reasons was because Scout was rubbing his face on the dirt.

Is Scout and Walter enemies with each other?

Do you think it was right for Atticus to go behind the teacher’s back and still read with Scout when the teacher said not to?

In My opinion, what they have done is common in some school, this is because everybody wants to do well in school especially in 'reality'. If they do not do well, parents or teachers will nag and that will not be pleasant.

Joey_26_Quotes(1--continued)
The quotes for Chapters 3 & 4 have already been posted, but here are some extra information about some of the things I have posted earlier.

1) N***ers
Generally, n***ers refer to black people, and racism refers to conflict between one race and another. In the book, there has been a lot of talk about n***ers. In the story, Atticus is defending a black man who was charged for the rape of a white girl. Notice how the "colour" of the people were specifically mentioned in the book. Now, people are spreading "heat" about the fact that Atticus is defending the black man and have even gone to the extend of saying that Atticus is defending n***ers.
2) Calpurinia and Jem
Continuing from the above, this second topic will elaborate more about the talk on n***ers. There is one part of the story ( page 41 to be exact) where Scout tells Dill not to believe a word Jem says as Calpurinia says that is n***er talk. Firstly, this sentence kind of shows us that Jem could probably be siding with Calpurinia mostly, and if you read on, you continue to see conflicts between Jem and Scout and sometimes Jem calls Scout a girl and conflict evolves from there. However, the more important point is the use of the words "n***er"talk. As I have said in previous post, is there really such thing called "n***er talk", or is it just a black person's words? More importantly, why should people not believe a sentence just because it is said by a black person?
3) Overall
All in all, the use of the word 'n***er' may be inappropriate some cases. Just because Atticus is defending the black man does not mean that he defends n***ers. Also, I think that Scout sometimes 'sides' with Calpurinia, however I think that it is inappropriate when Scout says 'n***er talk" and that Dill should not believe in it as I think that you should not judge whether or not to believe someword whether or not they are black, but whether or not their statement is true.

Chapter 5
Scout is now spending more time with their next door neighbour, Maudie. Maudie asked Miss Atkinson about the Radley's and she said that the Radley's are very strict Baptists and they stay away from people for religious reasons.
Dill, Scout and Jem is still disturbing the Radley’s. One day, the three of them decided to give a note to Boo Radley, while Jem tries to slip the note into the house, Dill and Scout will keep on a watch. Before they could run away, they were caught by Atticus, and they were warned by Atticus not to disturb the Radley's anymore.

Chapter 6
On Dill's last day in Maycomb, the three of them decided to disturb the Radley's for the final time. When they were standing near the Radley's windows, they saw someone in the yard and that someone was walking towards them, the three of them quickly run out towards the gate, as they were running, gunshots were made. When the children return to the street, they see a large crowd gathered in front of the Radley’s house.
Atticus notices that Jem has no pants on. Dill quickly came up with a story that he won them from Jem in a poker game.

Joey_26_Quotes(1)
Here are some of the important quotes for Chapters 3 and 4 of To Kill A Mocking Bird.

pg 32
-Calpurinia bent down and kissed me. I ran along, wondering what had come over her........She had always been too hard on me, she had at last seen the error of her fractious ways, she was sorry and too stubborn to say so.

To Kill A Mocking Bird is about racism. When there is racism, there is bound to be conflict. Although this quote does not talk about racism, it sort of describes conflict. The words " always been too hard on me" could mean that the author was getting tired of it and could have found Calpurinia a little harsh and that reminds me of conflict. Also, when the author mentions "had at last seen the error", it sort of describes that the author was happy that Calpurinia had finally seen her error. The words "at last" sort of describe that.

pg 33
- You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view.

I think that this quote is rather important. Here, Atticus describes to the author (Scout) that it is not easy to understand someone unless you are in his shoes. You need to be able to pretend to be the person, and how you would react if you were that person. If you would react a certain way, you should be able to accept it if that person reacts that way. Later along the story Scout and Walter placed themselves in Caroline's shoes and seen that it was an honest mistake on her part.

Chapter 4
pg 41

-Don't you believe a word he says, Dill. Calpurnia says that's n***er talk.

The above was said by Scout. Although it may seem like a simple sentence, it actually elaborates a little more about racism. In the above quote, Scout mentions that Calpurnia says that's n***er talk. In my opinion, this really brings out more about the point of racism. N***er talk is supposedly to be what n***ers say. Still, Scout says not to believe a word 'he' (Jem) says as Calpurnia says it is n***er talk. Does this mean they don't believe what n***ers say just because they are black? This is another example of racism.

pg 42
- Nothin' to it. I swear Scout, sometimes you act so much like a girl, it's mortifyin'.

The above was said by Jem. As mentioned earlier, racism is partially about conflict. Here, it shows the conflict between Jem and Scout. Jem and Scout were fighting about who should get the tyre. In the end, Jem became furious and took the tire and told Scout sometimes he acted so much like a girl. Here, there is sort of a gender conflict case going on. In racism, certain people choose not to mix with another group of people of a different race. In a gender conflict, it is female between male. The above quote does not really strongly show gender conflict. However, Jem mentions to Scout that sometimes he behaves like a girl and that it is mortifyin' ( supposedly to be mortifying), which means shameful. In Jem's eyes, it a shameful when Scout acts like a girl. However, Scout will most probably disagree as he might feel offended. So although there is no real gender conflict, Jem is using the term "girl" to hurt Scout. In other words, he is using the other gender as an insult to Scout. Therefore, this some what shows gender conflict and that Jem thinks a boy should behave like a boy and a girl should behave like a girl.

pg 45
- I was not so sure, but Jem told me I was being a girl, that girls were always imagining things, that's why other people hated them so, and if I started behaving like on I could just go off and find some to play with.

This quote emphasizes more on the gender conflict as mentioned above. Jem told Scout that he was being a girl and that girls were hated by people. This really shows more on the gender conflict as Jem is criticizing girls and saying that if Scout was going to behave like a girl then it would be better if he just went off and find some to play with. The gender conflict is more elaborately shown here as Jem thinks that boys should be boys in order not to be like girls, which he claimed were hated by people.

The state of Alabama was named after the river. The Alabama River was named by some European explorers.

The State of Alabama is located in the
southern region of the United States of America. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west. Alabama ranks 30th in total land area and ranks second in the size of its inland waterways. The state ranks 23rd in population with almost 4.6 million residents in 2006. Alabama is unofficially nicknamed the Yellowhammer State, which is also the name of the state bird. Alabama is also known as the "Heart of Dixie".

The word Alabama is believed to have originated from the Choctaw language and was later adopted by the Alabama tribe as their name. Alabama, like many Southern States, suffered economic hardship, in part because of continued dependence on agriculture. More significantly, white rural, minority domination of the legislature until the 1960s meant that urban, contemporary interests were consistently underrepresented.

Alabama is unofficially nickname the Yellowhammer State, which is also the name of the State bird. The Yellowhammer State originated the Civil War. A couple of suggestions as to the origination of the nickname have been presented. A company of soldiers paraded in uniforms that were trimmed with yellow cloth. Either way, the Alabama soldiers reminded people of Yellowhammers, birds with yellow patches under their wings. The Yellowhammer is Alabama's State Bird.

[Joey_26_Quotes(1)]
Here are some important quotes in To Kill A Mocking Bird

1) "Remember that it's a sin to kill a mocking bird"
- This quote is rather important as it contains part of the book title. It can tell us, if we read on, what the title means or why it was actually used. It can help give us an overall on what 'To Kill A Mocking Bird' means.

2)Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy.
- Again, this line mentions sort of tells the readers that mockingbirds are "good" creatures. Remember the title says "To Kill A Mocking Bird", and if this line tells us that the mockingbirds are "good" and that the previous line tells us it is a sin to kill a mockingbird, this line is therefore important as it brings out more suspense and therefore enables the reader to start questioning more about the book.

*3)

When a child asks you something, answer him, for goodness' sake. But don't make a production of it. Children are children, but they can spot an evasion quicker than adults, and evasion simply muddles 'em.
- This sentence tells us more about 'children'. In the book, there is a quote by Charles Lamb saying "Lawyers, I suppose, were children once". Now, although the quote is not really included in the actual story itself, it is somewhat important as the story is about a lawyer's and his advice to his children and so on. Therefore, this quote shows us relation between the lawyer and the child and what the similarities and differences are.

*4)
Bad language is a stage all children go through, and it dies with time when they learn they're not attracting attention with it.
This sentence is important because the sentence refers how bad language is a stage where all children go through, and that it dies within time. But remember, the story has an amount of profane language, or rather the use of one single profane word repeatedly. ( The word is n***er, sorry about this) Then again, the previous sentence says that lawyers were somewhat once children too. If so, how come they are using such language? Didn't this sentence say that bad language would die off? Seeing as there is a "conflict" between sentences, I conclude that this sentence is indeed important as now readers can compare as to the 'conflict' sentences and see for themselves which sentence is really true.
